Guest Speaker for The Stylists club

Last month I had the honour of speaking at a masterclass for interior designers and stylists, hosted by The Stylist’s Club. In this online session, we explored two key areas: Visual Identity and Storytelling through content.

As an interior and product photographer with a background in interior design, I was there to share how I use storytelling through the content I shoot to help my clients:

→ Stand out visually
→ Connect with their audience
→ Book more of the work they actually want

And while I often joke that my job is all about aesthetics, there’s a method to the pretty images!

Visual Identity

Your visual identity isn’t just a vibe - it’s your first impression. Before someone reads a single word on your website/ Instagram/ Portfolio, they’ve already felt something. It’s one of the most powerful tools you have when it comes to attracting the right clients and standing out in a saturated space. Think: lighting, tone, textures, styling, editing. Every detail adds up.

Storytelling

Moving from visuals to voice. Your finished spaces are beautiful. But what about everything that led there? People want to understand your process: The planning. The sourcing. The back-and-forth. The emotion. This is your content gold - and often, it’s where your unique selling point lies. It builds trust. It positions you as an expert. It makes your work sticky - the kind people remember and want to come back to.

What Did I Actually Share?

  • Your visual identity is built by repetition - not just aesthetics. Use the same tones, angles, styling cues and voice across everything.

  • You don’t need to be a professional content creator - you just need to be consistent, clear and confident.

  • Know your USP and speak to it every single week in your content.

  • “You are your brand. Show us what you see - and tell us why it matters.”

I also shared real examples of visual identity done well by other interior stylists and designers, plus exact storytelling content ideas (with proof) that anyone can start using today.
