How to Use Your Interior Photography Across Your Marketing

You’ve poured time, energy, and thought into your latest project or collection and photography is the final step in capturing it all. But after uploading a few favourites to your website or portfolio… then what?

Beautiful, editorial-style images shouldn’t sit in a folder. When used intentionally, they can become the backbone of your entire marketing strategy.

Here’s how to make your photography work harder across every channel and a few places you may not have thought to use it.

Instagram: the obvious starting point (but don’t stop there)

Don’t just post one hero image and move on. Not everyone sees it. Try this:

  • Break it down: Share one project across a wide shot, vignette, flatlay, and even a before/after. I love being able to see more of a project, and laying it out over 3 - 9 posts is a great way to have a cohesive looking feed.

  • Tell stories: Use captions to explain why a design decision was made or how materials were selected.

  • Share BTS: Most photographers are happy for you to post behind-the-scenes. Clients love seeing the process as much as the end result.

Plan your content in layers with your photographer ahead of time. Plan for a mix of wide, detail and vertical shots you can schedule out seasonally or around launches.

Pinterest - the long game

Pinterest quietly drives traffic long after you post. I still have a pin from over a year ago that’s one of my top website drivers.

  • Pin each image with keyword-rich captions.

  • Use templates to turn one shoot into multiple pins - test and see what gains traction.

  • Prioritise naming and alt-text: instead of “IMG_1234,” try “Melbourne curved archway living room” or “Melbourne interior bedroom shoot neutral tones.”

Email Marketing (EDMs)

Professional images instantly lift the look and feel of your campaigns. Use them for:

  • Project spotlights or collection announcements

  • Moodboard-style layouts for storytelling

  • Seasonal updates, styled scenes or studio news

Repurpose captions and BTS notes from Instagram as email copy - people love the why behind what you do.

Sales & Client Presentations

Your photo gallery is a powerful sales tool - not just a visual nice-to-have.

  • Add your strongest work to pitch decks or proposals.

  • Use imagery to explain your aesthetic and process.

  • Include polished PDFs or lookbooks as leave-behinds after consults.

Don’t just show what you do - show what it feels like to live in your spaces or use your products.

Press Features & Print Collateral

High-res imagery is essential if you want to:

  • Be featured in design publications

  • Submit for industry awards

  • Create lookbooks, printed guides, or thank you cards

Want to be published more? Make sure you have your best content ready. Don’t wait for an editor to come to you, make the first move.

Interior photography isn’t just a one-and-done. It’s so important to build a beautiful content library that showcases your eye for design. We let your space shine and hero the design decisions that make each project distinctly your own.
