A SABI-Inspired Shot List for Furniture Brands

There’s more to content than the perfectly styled hero shot. View my list of content ideas I’d often lean into when telling the full story of a piece (or collection) that is quietly impactful, editorial and thoughtfully considered.

“Your brand is the single most important investment you can make in your business.”
- Steve Forbes

Product First, but Elevated

+ Clean front-on product shot (studio or natural light)
+ Silhouette-focused angle (back of a chair, curve of a sofa)
+ Close-up of material texture (timber grain, linen weave, stone veining)
+ Functional feature in use (drawer gliding open, adjustable element)
+ Hardware details (brass knobs, stitched edges, joinery)

Lifestyle Moments

+ Your piece in a styled corner (subtle styling, lived-in feel)
+ Light falling across the surface (I LOVE a good light moment)
+ Chair slightly turned, in use but subtle
+ Someone walking past the piece (there’s a reason you always see motion blur in magazines)

Process Storytelling

+ Sketches or design process laid out on a table
+ Artisan hands working on the piece (carving, sanding, assembling)
+ Behind-the-scenes of your team or studio/ office space
+ The raw material before transformation (stone slab, timber, fabric swatch)

Video Content

Note: there’s a lot that goes into producing just one video. These ideas are simply starting points. Each can be scaled up or stripped back depending on your brand tone, available time and where the content will live.

+ Time-lapse of a styling transformation
+ Light shifting across a piece through the day
+ "How it’s made" snippets
+ ASMR-style sounds (fabric moving, drawers sliding, wood tapping)
+ A voiceover story: “Why we made this piece…”

Not every piece needs every angle shot. But after months of design, development, and manufacturing, it’s worth slowing down to tell the story properly.

Save this for your next shoot, or pass it on to your team. Your furniture deserves more than a quick scroll.
